Phlebotomy Technician Certification Program
Program Overview
The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to prepare students to become certified phlebotomists. Phlebotomists work as members of medical teams in a hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers and other health care facility to draw blood and analyze specimens.
Program Objectives
Upon completion of this course participants will:
- Prepare tools for drawing blood
- Read and understand blood works requisitions
- Draw blood from patients and blood donors;
- Evaluate patients’ ability to withstand procedure;
- Explain blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions;
- Prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing;
- Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels;
- Sit for certification with the National Healthcareers Association

This course is open enrollment. You can enroll and begin in any session throughout the year.
Certification Examination
Opportunities to sit the certification exam are available year round. To register, simply complete the application form on the BIBT website and remit the appropriate fees. Please see exam fee schedule below:Â Â
