Pharmacy Technician — Certification Program
Introduction
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are critical components of the healthcare field. Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies, and other healthcare settings.
Due to the ever increasing need for healthcare, the emergence of new medical therapeutics and advances in science offering a greater number of therapeutic breakthroughs there’s a high demand for pharmacy technicians. What is the Job of Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, community pharmacies and drug stores, and other healthcare facilities. They fill prescriptions, communicate with patients and medical professionals, take inventory, carryout bookkeeping duties, place orders and other duties as set by the responsible supervisor.

Why Become Certified
Certification validates your training and says you have the skills and knowledge to preform as a pharmacy technician. To become certified you need to sit and pass the NHA exam.
Program Objectives
Upon completion of this course participants will:
- Describe the responsibilities and duties of pharmacy technicians
- Understand the ethical and legal requirements of a pharmacy technician
- Know the trade and generic names of selected drugs, how they are administered and their side effects
- Understand drug classifications and indications,
- Understand pharmaceutical and medical terminology, including abbreviations and symbols
- Perform pharmaceutical preparation skills, including filling prescriptions and preparing sterile products;
- Describe basic anatomy and related pathological conditions
- Sit and pass the NHA certification exam for pharmacy technician.
